Incidentially no results yet from Seaford, but Lewes district council's website also has details of a neighbourhood plan referendum in somewhere called Wivelsfield which was also held yesterday. Results also awaited.

Incidentially no results yet from Seaford, but Lewes district council's website also has details of a neighbourhood plan referendum in somewhere called Wivelsfield which was also held yesterday. Results also awaited. It covers most of the open space between Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath, so, there is development pressures there.

We have applicants for co-option at next week's town council. Yes, applicants plural! linkUnfortunately, they've both gone for wards that already have members, still leaving us with one ward with zero members. Roll on our miniture boundary review which will do its best to address this. Proposed to have 3 five-member seats co-terminal with the borough council seats, instead of 6 x 2/3/4-member seats, meaning an individual ward is less likely to have zero candidates.

Frinton & Walton TC, Walton Ward Vacancy caused by resignation of Dave Fitz-Hardy (Conservative) Polling day 03/11/2016
Candidates nominated: Cossens, Mark Alan (Conservative) Oxley, Ann Francis (Tendring First)
In May 2015, Walton was contested by 4 Conservative and 2 Tendring First candidates and returned 2 Conservatives and 2 Tendring First councillors.
Mark Cossens is a district councillor for Holland & Kirby ward and lives in Hamford ward. He has previously served as mayor of Frinton & Walton. Until 2007 he was a member of the Conservatives, then defected to Tendring First before rejoining the Conservatives in 2014. At Tendring DC level, he first stood in 1999 in St John's ward (in Clacton) without success, and has now served as councillor for Holland and Kirby since 2003. At Essex CC level he stood unsuccessfully for Harwich in 2001, served for Tendring Rural East 2005-9 and stood again for that ward in 2009 & 2013 without success. Ann Cossens (his wife), who followed the same pattern of defections, is currently a Frinton & Walton town councillor for Kirby Cross ward and unsuccessfully contested Haven ward on Tendring DC in 2015.
Ann Oxley lives in the ward and her husband David is already a town councillor for the ward. She and her family were Conservatives until defecting to Tendring First in 2007. At Tendring DC level she represented Pier ward (in Clacton) 2003-7, and unsuccessfully contested it in 2007 & 2011, and St Paul's ward (also in Clacton) in 2015. Also at Tendring DC level her husband represented St Paul's 2007-15 and her son Pierre represented Southcliff 1999-2003 & St Paul's 2003-15, standing without success in 2015. At Essex CC level he represented Clacton East 2005-9, unsuccessfully defending it 2009 before regaining it in 2013. He was subsequently disqualified as a councillor after being convicted in 2016 of fraud and given a suspended sentence.
Composition of TC after May 2015 election: 7 Con 9 Tendring First Current composition: 5 Con 9 Tendring First 2 Vacant The other vacancy is the result of the disqualification of Mark Brown (Conservative, Frinton ward) for non-attendance on 13/10/2016.
