And apparently Jacqueline Robinson, a disability rights campaigner from Birmingham who applied for a number of seats for 2015 and generally doing quite badly. Yes, she lives in the ward I used to represent, I am mildly surprised that she is panelled as a parliamentary candidate. There again, thinking of the Erdington short-list, why not.

Labour members could apply for parliamentary selection even if they were not in the panel. They undergo the approval interview by a NEC panel once selected if they win the nomination without previously being on an approved panel (either the party, the unions or the Co-Op approved candidates panels).

He's the sort of candidate that MerseyMike thinks should join the tories - which probably doesnt narrow it down, but I would say he is on the right of the party.

I'd say the selection is between Coppard and Furniss. Gill Furniss was an Andy Burnham supporter in the leadership election.

I'd say the selection is between Coppard and Furniss. Gill Furniss was an Andy Burnham supporter in the leadership election. As was Harry Harpham. But like most - though not all - who voted for Burnham - she would be likely to be supportive rather than a member of the Sulkalot Squad

I don't recall all this talk of Coppard being a right winger a year ago?
Maybe our one time poster Mr Nameless could make a reappearance to give their impressions......

I don't recall all this talk of Coppard being a right winger a year ago? Well factional lines have become rather starker of late haven't they.

By no means everybody who backed Cooper was on the Labour right, and she likely had a bit of a "Yorkshire bonus" as well (not being able to properly quantify such things is another reason why the bizarre and unprecedented [?] decision not to issue regional/constituency breakdowns of the leadership vote is so infuriating) But yes, Cooper/Watson suggests somebody on the pragmatic (as opposed to ideological) right all told.

I wouldn't have as good a feel as mrnameless , but I met him and followed his campaign fairly closely. The impression I got was that he would align with the right in factional terms, but that his actual views are not that right-wing by Labour standards. Certainly I would think that saying he should join the Tories would be absurd.

Labour shortlist Cllr Gill Furniss Cllr Jayne Dunn Jayne Lim Was it an AWS or is there another reason why Oliver Coppard isn't on there?

No Oliver. Amazing given his high profile last year.
