An Independent which topped the poll. Which surely shows a glitch in the way of calculating vote shares in these contests? In reality, Independents are massively down (mostly to the benefit of the Tories) not slightly up. Please see my analysis of the results on the appropriate monthly threads.

I follow the same system as Middleenglander, which is to consider different independents as if they were different parties. There is no reason to assume links between Margaret Lyon Independent and Mark Pavey Independent. But I'll take your remark in account and think about it. For Ryedale, however, the change will be there, as it's the same Independent running again.

An Independent which topped the poll. Which surely shows a glitch in the way of calculating vote shares in these contests? In reality, Independents are massively down (mostly to the benefit of the Tories) not slightly up. But does that really give a more accurate picture. If the independant who topped the poll had been eligible to stand again, she might well have topped the poll again. A massive movement from independant to Conservative could therefore be seen as somewhat misleading as well.

Again, a Independent finished 2nd last time, so, variations look wierd.

Given the size of Derwent ward (18 polling stations serving multiple hamlets in an area of 14,500 hectares) it would be a surprise if it was counting tonight.
