Another day, another poll by another sketchy outfit: OUT 42%, IN 44% - Opinium Also last night, YouGov has Brexit ahead by a single point. I find both of these rather more believable than what ORB claimed.

How are the leave campaign going to staff the new hospital they are going to build each week? There's a lot of very good unemployed nurses in Spain. They could come ov ..... Oh, hang on. Well, we could break the habits of a lifetime and start with building lots of nurses training colleges and have our own British nurses instead of importing from poorer countries where they are far more needed. Just an idle thought.

Where we might differ is what we cut to do it and where and if we raised additional funds?

It obviously depends how you define "a lot". Compared to many other places in England Suffolk probably hasn't experienced a great deal, but I was thinking of a longer-term comparison to previous decades in Suffolk. If one were to take the availability of paprika (oddly spelt "papryka" on the packets) flavoured crisps on the shelves in Tesco as the marker of the presence of East European migrants, there is an adequate population to support sales in Ipswich and Cambridge, but not Stowmarket and possibly Bury St Edmunds, and I do realise that Cambridge is not in Suffolk but on the the flat lands to the West.

I think you under-estimate the level of immigration from eastern Europe into rural/agricultural areas.
Some sorts of farming, particularly fruit and vegetable harvesting, require high levels of unskilled labour for picking seasons. In areas of limited population these communities are more distinctive than in major urban areas.

There's a lot of chatter about an ICM poll on the referendum, which was supposed to be released this morning. Nothing came out, but the ICM website crashed under the strain of everyone reloading it. Some people have got confused with an earlier poll from May.
There is still expected to be a poll released by ICM today.

Some people have got confused with an earlier poll from May. There is still expected to be a poll released by ICM today. Mike Smithson is tweeting that both ICM polls show improved figures for Remain

Phone poll figures are certain to vote only (which explains the low number of undecided). For everyone its 46 L, 43 R

That's the second week in a row there has been a huge song and dance about ICM's poll(s) hasn't it? Embarrassing stuff from a supposedly reputable company.

I'm assuming that all these polls continue the UK polling tradition of not polling Northern Ireland.
If it's very close, that could be significant.
