Have you ever travelled that route? I suspect there are only three posters here who have. Me being the only non railway employee of the trio. St Erth to St Ives is a branch line. So far as I can recall, there are no direct connections to St Ives save via St Erth. No one calls it a main line route. St Erth is a surprisingly busy station though. MK to Bedford is a branch line. As is Colchester-Clacton. There are lots of examples of branches of that nature. I have off the down night sleeper. The sleeper went to St Ives? Did it break at St Erth and carry on?

I have off the down night sleeper. The sleeper went to St Ives? Did it break at St Erth and carry on? A late call on that thread. I was on that sleeper again two Friday's ago. But the occasion I referred to was a detrain from the sleeper at St. Erth and branch train on to St. Ives.
