Lord Ashcroft poll - Labour lead of 6 - CON (29%) LAB (35%) LD (9%) UKIP (14%) -
and this is interesting
Ashcroft - which party has best approach to the EU?
LAB (27%)
CON (25%)
UKIP (21%)
LD (13%)
Of course we have no rec ord to base this on

Any clarification about who exactly is carrying out these polls for Ashcroft? I can confirm that - regrettably - it isn't Opium Polling.

I note of course that last week, one poll meant all the usual suspects saying the death and Ed, I note the same poll a week later and where are they ?
Some right idiots in the political commentary game now, no wonder politics is so poor nowadays.

There seems to be an 11% Difference between European elections and local elections. I have had people tell me they have voted for me but bollocks to the European elections. I think the pollsters are picking up on already voted, and are naturally more accurate.

I think its too early to say whether last weeks poll was the outlier or this weeks. Of course, the Euros seem to have caused a lot of fluctuations in the polling for all parties (except the Lib Dems - they're screwed in all the polls!)

You'd have everyone believe that we're taking things for granted even after we've seen such behaviour from certain individuals (not all) within your own party. If any polls a year in advance of the general election puts us ahead, of course we're going to be encouraged - and we should say so.

and then stay quiet a week later when 6 behind ? I would hope anyone from this site would know better then make any kind of comment like that.
Whether one poll puts a party 10% in front or 10% behind.

Whether one poll puts a party 10% in front or 10% behind. Look, the Conservatives have had two years of rather bad polls, although they haven't been disastrous. We haven't whinged about it much. We've taken them in our stride - it comes with being in government. Of course we're not going to be on here in our hundreds talking about this one poll putting us behind - we've been used to such polls. What I don't like from you is all these pathetic claims of complacency as soon as we hint the slightest bit of encouragement by the first bit of good news we've had in ages.

Even if you as a member of this forum must realise a one off represents nothing ?

The usual suspects aren't for the most part the Conservatives.

Even if you as a member of this forum must realise a one off represents nothing ? There have been 3 within a week. This has followed none for 2 years. Does that sound like noise or a real movement to you? I'm not saying that it means we are infront, just that we are now very close indeed.

Well, most polls since last midweek have shown us opening up a lead again - the latest Populus is very much the exception there.

The margins are so small and it's so far out that it would really make no difference who was ahead, if it weren't for the human need to identify a leader.
