Incidentally the Stratford-on-Avon by-election in Southam ward is also Independent, elected as Con.
Dave Wise switched to the Independent Group back in February 2013, on an issue quite unrelated to the reason for his recent resignation from the Council. He and Helen Hayter (Snitterfield), who switched at the same time, cited disillusionment with politics in local government and, in particular, a requirement to always toe the party line irrespective of their individual views or community needs.
I cannot give you a web reference, because the relevant page of the Stratford-upon-Avon Herald appears to have been turned off.

I think the Pendle/Old Laund Booth nominations are LD, Con and UKIP but not yet published for some reason. Labour are not standing.
