Difficult to keep track of, but there have been two councillor resignations in Rotherham.
Paul Lakin (Valley ward), who was briefly the leader in between the Jay and Casey reports (succeeding Roger Stone), has resigned as a councillor. He was last elected in 2011 so this seat will be vacant until May.
Also Mahroof Hussain (Boston Castle ward) has resigned from the council. He was last elected in 2012. Presumably double vacancy but for the single year before the all-outs.
Roger Stone's former seat in Silverwood ward also remains vacant.

I read there will be all-out elections in 2016. What will be the role of Councillors in the meantime?

Labour candidate for Croydon Selhurst will be David Wood (son of Wilfred Wood, former bishop of Croydon). Conservative: Tirena Gunter Green: Tracey Hague The SOPN isn't published until Monday, so I don't know about others. This will be the first by-election in Croydon without me as a candidate since 8th December 1994.

There are 4 by-elections during the rest of February and 7 so far identified in March. A further 15 vacancies are known where the election has as yet no date, although it is almost certain 9 will see no by-election as they are to be contested again in May, along with an impending resignation so the vacancy can be filled on 7th May. So far 26 vacancies have been identified under the "six month" rule.
There are so far 17 by-elections for 18 seats scheduled in the January to April 2015 period, including the 6 for 7 seats already held, ahead of the main elections in May. A total close to the 22 contested during the same period in 2011 looks likely.

Tirena Gunter (Con) Tracey Hague (Green) Geoff Morley (LD) Annette Reid (UKIP) David Wood (Lab) Over the weekend I was wondering whether there might be a candidate from TUSC or CPB, but my guess is that TUSC wasn't organised enough and that CPB decided not to.

Have you had any thoughts about standing as a Conservative candidate in future Croydon elections? Yes - and I am very clear and settled in the position that I don't want to. I wouldn't have the stamina to be a councillor, and I probably wouldn't be much good at it even if I wanted to.

That's the first unopposed election in Scotland since STV was introduced in 2007.

Would you be a candidate for a non-winnable seat, though? I suppose I would consider being a paper candidate in a safe Labour ward if I were needed to make up the numbers, but even that is an unlikely possibility.

The new councillor stood in the 2012 locals in the ward and came 5th of 6 candidates with 8.1% of the vote.
