Well these won't be as interesting to stay up for =( Really? I agree with you about Motherwell North but West Leigh looks very interesting unless you know something I don't. Edit: The interest being in who is 2nd and below rather than the prospect of the Tories losing, which seems unlikely.

There was a byelection tonight in Hertford Town Council, Bengeo ward. It was a Labour gain from Conservative, who did not defend their seat:
Lab 337 L Dem 319 UKIP 318

UKIP got pretty close in Prittlewell and West Shoebury wards in 2012 and in most of the other wards where they stood they were a respectable third. That suggests they ought to be expecting several gains in Southend come May, although West Leigh is probably not naturally their best area.

Southend would have many of the characteristics where Ukip might do well. Though this ward is more middle class than most.
