I was hoping for 5%, so happy with 5.8. Ukip did a fair bit of work and are disappointed; Tories were relieved rather than jubilant

Looking at the Barnsley result, when was the last time you saw a UKIP candidate poll six times as many votes as a Tory ?

Looking at the Barnsley result, when was the last time you saw a UKIP candidate poll six times as many votes as a Tory ? 

Last time UKIP had a result more than six times greater the Conservatives' was on 6 June in the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Walkergate by-election, where UKIP polled 12.4x the Conservative total.

Scary for the Tories in the South East for the European elections next year.

Bit of a funny ward this, but Conservatives polled 14.7% in 2003, 16.5% in 2007, didn't stand in 2011, 34.0% in the 2012 by-election and 23.0% yesterday.
