Islington East, 1931, was the first occasion where a parliamentary constituency was contested only by women (Thelma Cazalet and Leah Manning).

Every vote really does count! In fairness, for most people most of the time, it really doesn't count. If you live in a marginal area then yes it counts.

A very rapidly done by-election number cruncher for the low number of by-elections held between 2001 and 2004. Talk about a slice of recent history which seems so far, far, away: what must have seemed so important (RESPECT! Lib Dems gain Brent! Peter Mandelson!) has all but faded from history. Cumulative total at 2001 general election | Party/Candidate | Place | Party/Candidate | Cumulative total at 2001-2005 by-elections | 119,475 | Labour | 1 | Labour | 57,292 | 43,465 | Conservative | 2 | Liberal Democrats | 43,896 | 27,954 | Liberal Democrats | 3 | Conservative | 24,922 | 4,259 | Plaid Cymru | 4 | Respect | 5,578 | 2,578 | Green Party | 5 | Plaid Cymru | 3,827 | 2,472 | Socialist Labour Party | 6 | UKIP | 3,609 | 1,417 | UKIP | 7 | Socialist Labour Party | 1,621 | 889 | BNP | 8 | Green Party | 1,398 | 561 | People's Justice | 9 | National Front | 1,051 | 557 | Ind. Ian Cameron | 10 | Socialist Alliance | 718 |

There are certain monetary reasons why that could prove difficult for some people. NE Fife it is then.

Well, I don't need to go anywhere as I already live in a marginal seat. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I live in a very marginal seat. Unfortunately, the marginality doesn't involve my party. I get very tired of being attacked for voting for the party of which I have been a member since 1977 but vote for it I shall continue to do. I respect that. i've never voted tactically either.
