Note that the Hurworth councillor disqualified for non-attendance is Martin Swainston, who is standing for re-election.

Do the conservatives have a representative in Hurworth 2012 by election? I've had nothing through my door from them whereas the other 2 have already posted their flyers. Come on Mr Conservative, pull your finger out and earn the vote.

He also one of the 2 Tory Cllrs elected in 2007 (the other one has the same surname). The Labour councillor jailed is the one who got 1261 votes and the only one who survived in 2007

There is a delay in getting the result from Barnet because, and I paraphrase David Boothroyd, Barnet Council register highly on the useless scale.
They are having issues with a webcam or somesuch nonsense.

total collapse in the government support, no doubt the alarm in Mark's house rings and will be mentioning differential turnout.

Certainly a rise in Labour support and a fall in Conservative support caused by differential turnout , LD support up on 2002 and the same as in 2006 not much else of importance here .

Its a very good result for Labour there's no way of spinning it otherwise I concur with my learned friend. Worse for the Conservatives than the LDs in many ways, I'd say, but a great result for Labour.

total collapse in the government support, no doubt the alarm in Mark's house rings and will be mentioning differential turnout. That'll be total collapse in a safe Labour ward on a turnout of under 30%. Oh, I see Mark has already covered this.

Another one with lots of past form to go by... If it helps, the result in 1999 for a single-member ward was C 570, Lab 253. The current Lowdham ward consists of the old Lowdham and Dover Beck wards.

Yes, an excellent result. We have a tricky defence in Darlington tonight - let's see how that one goes.......

yep we had a councillor done for the same offence as in Darlington and a safe labour seat went Tory until the next time it was up - Birchills.
would not surprise me if a Tory gain even in the NE
