Part II seems to have gone AWOL. What's happening, andrewteale ? I imagine Andrew has noticed that a section is missing, and pulled it to make corrections. I posted the link without reading it, and probably caught it just after it was posted on Medium. Perhaps people could keep an eye out and post the corrected part 2 in due course.

Indeed so. Part II was a joy to write and has been a nightmare to publish - this is now the second time I've withdrawn it.
I have been frustrated with Medium as a platform for some time, but this is the last straw and I am now looking to migrate the Previews somewhere else.

Given the name "Andrew's Previews", perhaps it's worth mentioning that Eric Morecambe's home was on the south side of Redbourn Lane, just next to the ward boundary of Harpenden North and Rural ward.

WordPress might be useful too, idk.

I have an account with them and I seem to remember that their backend is nicer to use as well.

Are any of our Welsh correspondents able to explain why the village is Dinorwig and the quarry etc is Dinorwic? Is it a different name, mutation or something?

Dinorwic is basically just wrong but is the form historically used by English writers, thus is sort of the English name (though it's really not very English is it - pronunciation just happens to be translate unusually well between orthographies)

We went on a school geography trip to Dinorwig power station once. Interesting place. I remember them saying how they had to time up the release of water from the upper lake to coincide with the ad break in Corrie, as people would generally use that time to put the kettle on for a cuppa, causing a big surge in electrical demand.
Something that I suppose doesn't happen any longer with changing media habits.
