It was 25 votes more than Labour obtained in the 2021 by-election however. People really post some crap on these threads!

I will accept any ban with good grace. a ban is obviously not applicable or appropriate here, but it’s an important principle of polling that a local by-election in which the winner gets 300 votes on its own tells us nothing about the country as a whole. Just as the good Labour result in Stevenage last week does not of itself mean that everyone loves Labour.

Swale is somewhat battleground territory though. Albeit the Tories shouldn't lose there. But lose they did in July.

Nothing for the Tories to celebrate. if Reform regularly translate their GE successes into local election votes now (a bit too early to say, but watch this space), it's cause for Tories - and local indies - to grind their teeth in frustration!

The Tories face a pincer movement. Reform in the Midlands and North. Lib Dems and Greens everywhere else. North Kent is promising Reform territory.

Point is, there are loads of people out there that would post something like you did with 100% po-faced seriousness. And that's one reason why we have smileys (I "recommend" the comments underneath the local byelection results at the Britain Elects account on Twitter, if you want a cheap laugh in that respect)

LD hold in Swale: Labour: 74 Con 153 Reform: 200 LD: 316 I would imagine my lot are pretty happy with that result Worth swallowing a LD hold this time to be able to put a bar chart on the leaflets next time with the headline "Only Reform can beat the Lib Dems here!"

Worth swallowing a LD hold this time to be able to put a bar chart on the leaflets next time with the headline "Only Reform can beat the Lib Dems here!" I would think that the Lib Dems would be absolutely delighted if that message was delivered. Or they might start getting worried that all their tactical voters would simply sit on their hands and stay at home.

That doesn’t seem to hurt Reform. One might have thought it could. I imagine Reform voters are NIMBYs. Of course new developments have NIMBYs. But new estates in Kent = commuters? Small turnout by-election in Swale ofc.
