I may have misspoke but there are expenses form return deadlines, and I don't want to expense anything unless I have to do so. That is absolutely glorious. Please spend as much as you want up to the limit then put your expense claim in. Good luck with that. Can someone please explain to me how local by-elections work? Asking for a friend.

If you know of any election leaflets that are funded by the taxpayer then you should immediately inform the police - along, of course, with evidence. In what way do your campaign techniques lessen public funds being used? I may have misspoke but there are expenses form return deadlines, and I don't want to expense anything unless I have to do so. You have to return an expenses form even if you spend no money at all. Failure to do so is an offence, with the potential for a criminal prosecution. You signing your acceptance of nomination confirms your understanding of this.

If someone decides they want to vote for an independent, why would they pick you over Alison Stoeker, who is running a much more professional campaign. We are working harder than her. I have delivered around 1,000 leaflets now. She's N4 based. I live in N6 where turnout will likely be higher. If I saw her, I'd cross the street. She just looks like someone who may well use the council seat as a platform for non-local issues. I can beat her, I think. Hornsey Road where she's based - I've extensively carpet bombed it with leaflets plus I can tap into the muslim vote (around 16% in Hillrise, IIRC) and I don't think she can. I have a shalwar kameez I can wear on campaign. Professional politicians and campaigns are overrated. Source: British politics since 2015. I have better things to do with my time but here goes: Hillrise ward has about 5,000 households, most of which are in N19, so the N4/N6 argument is moot. 1,000 leaflets will barely scratch the surface.

Election leaflets are not "expensed to the taxpayer". I suggest you do some basic research before standing for election. I am learning on the job. Any and all (constructive) criticism welcome. Well, I recommend you submit at least the cost of the reams of paper you are using. And evidencing it with a receipt from W.H.Smith would be expected too.

I can't read Pete Whitehead's post while replying to it but I'm learning on the job. I'm also an independent and trying to keep costs down if at all possible.

Anyway, if anyone wants to lend a hand to the campaign, please let me know. I'm mildly less autistic in person.

I don't think they can investigate. We are using this resignation massively. Potentially expensive by-election in Islington. I'm not spending much on leaflets. The homemade literature is about frugality. I'd ideally expense nothing here, honestly. Labour could utterly bomb in this. Recall the last one was May. It was alongside the Mayoral vote. Khan's coattails were long back then. I think Labour drops a lot. Who benefits? Possibly yours truly wins (with c25%). The new kid on the block. Labour are the establishment in Islington. Am targeting Greens and Lib Dems. I want to win this Inshallah. Steadman looks like stuff of nightmares. Quick question, what is a 'photocopier'? Photocopying is a function provided by scanner/printers. Scan the document, then print as many copies as you want.

Photocopying is a function provided by scanner/printers. Scan the document, then print as many copies as you want. Gotcha. If you want a two-sided leaflet, you can actually print one side, then turn the printed paper over, put it back in the printer/scanner/photocopier and print on the other side. Test on one or two pages first, in case you print both sides of the leaflet on the same side!

I've gone with a 'letter to voter' style leaflet (hand written) and a single side poster style leaflet thus far, but this is helpful to know.

Remember that photocopying (even handwritten notes) counts as 'printed material', so will need an imprint identifying who has printed & published. Failure to do so is a criminal offence. Delivering 1,000 leaflets would take at least 6 hours, and more likely 10. How much does it take to write out each one?

I did it, but I don't like the machines. They sound like a ghost is locked inside or the devil himself. I have been burning the midnight oil to handwrite around 700 of them and counting. I believe we are competitive and I welcome the forum's support and or constructive commentary.

They submit an expenses declaration (even if those are £0.00)
