Having followed this thread idly for the last week or so, I'm still none the wiser as to whether it's a heated discussion about a local by-election in Islington or a piece of rather drawn out performance art. I'm inclined to believe the latter. It'll be a dreadful one man show at next year's Edinburgh Fringe.

A very good showing by The Independent Stoecker. Remarkable Tally of 539 24%. It is further evidence that a significant amount of people are fed up disappointed and annoyed with the Labour Party machine crushing members on the left and making it now and forever a very middle class centrist and enormously dull political party 27% combined vote for the independents.

I'd suggest that 24% in this particular constituency with it's recent electoral history doesn't prove anything significant I'm afraid.

Yes I'm really not sure that's the conclusion we can draw from it at all

yes the Tories beat Labour in an area where the Tories almost always beat Labour in first preference votes. Dunblane & Bridge of Allan have a stronger Conservative heritage than most of Stirling itself and have frequently elected Conservative councillors in the past.

We have a broken electoral system. Scotland has it right. It really doesn't. Anyway, let me wish you all the best - I don't see what else would be edifying for anyone to say. Better luck next time.

When Ron Atkinson was manager of Nottingham Forest he said of one match that it had been "great to be part of a nine goal thriller." They had lost 8-1.

They've finished counting the votes, but the thread's not closed yet... Are you suggesting we all continue to write frivolous posts so that the page count goes over the number of votes? Frivolous posts? On this Forum? Surely not!

I was not expecting the LibDems to come third. I expected the Greens to finish ahead of the Lib Dems.

20% drop for Labour in Hillrise. If I were Labour I’d be happy with that given they had a 30% drop across Islington North in July.

Not sure we've had the percentages from Caerphilly.
From Britain Elects
Yesterday's Aberbargoed and Bargoed (Caerphilly) council by-election result:
LAB: 46.2% PC: 46.1% GRN: 7.7%
No Ind as prev.
Valid votes cast: 766
One vote majority.
Labour HOLD.

Between us Gareth Bale and I have scored 41 goals for the Welsh mens football team.
