I don't know Yvonne Maxwell, whose resignation has caused the Hoxton by-election, but she is married to a Facebook friend of mine. I had forgotten that she was on Hackney Council.

It'd be funny if the Greens won Hoxton. That ward is the Tories' best in Hackney South & Shoreditch these days, due to the City IIRC. However, I should get up of my assumptions, and there are still some WWC council estates with Tory votes in Hoxton. It'll be difficult to break the Hackney South & Shoreditch 'red wall' but if anyone can do it in Hoxton, it's probably the Greens at least at the moment. Insane house prices there. And for what? Some poxy converted loft or warehouse. What's the world coming to? It doesn't even have its own tube unless you count Old Street, which is always packed and never going to be fully refurbished, IMO. Pete Whitehead and I were discussing the 'weed vote' earlier - well I reckon it exists here in spades along with the coke note (we're almost in the City here).

Initially I would just run 5 k from Hackney to Angel and built it up from there. The canal is a real asset for Hackney. I know some people in lofts in Hoxton.

I went to the Wenlock to watch the footie, but accidentally went to another pub - maybe I was already drunk when I set off for the game! Wenlock is wonderful.

I ventured to the (then unreformed) Wenlock in 2007 soon after my arrival in Islington South. I never made it back home, the Wenlock's beers ensuring I fell over so badly on my attempted return that I broke my thighbone and required an artificial hip to allow me to stand again. Such are the dangers of crossing into the badlands of Hackney!

I fell asleep on the 43 bus afterwards and woke up in North Finchley and then walked home to where we were staying in East Finchley / Fortis Green at the time!
