City of London Farringdon Within all Independents Williams 109 Goodchild 102 Levanen 47 O’Sullivan 30 I still think Labour could have won that seat by getting the St Paul's canon vote around Amen Corner and Ave Maria Lane. One to watch in next year's City election.

Labour's winner on about 40% compared to the top Labour candidate's 49% vote share in 2022, I think. The opposition votes split six ways from Sunday here.

Newham Maryland LAB 1626 IND 896 GRN 712 CON 360 LD 185 Forest Gate North LAB 1757 IND 1073 GRN 810 CON 251 LD. 192 The Maryland numbers are Labour DOWN 21 and the Greens UP 2 with the Newham Independent candidate getting 24%. As for Forest Gate North, Labour DOWN 20 and the Greens unchanged with the Newham Independent getting 26%. Very similar and the big question is whether the Newham Independents will be able to carry this momentum to the Beckton and Little Ilford by elections on the 18th when it may be harder for Labour to get their vote out.

Sefton, Linacre. Lab 1402, LD 134, Con 103. Lab hold. That was the result of May's ordinary election in Linacre - there was no Lib Dem this time. I have seen a tweet that Labour held the ward but no figures yet.

Two Conservative wins from Conservatives originally elected as Independents (and I believe one was previously a Lib Dem) who were subsequently re-elected as Conservatives but who nominated two Independents for this by-election, one of whom withdrew. So pretty normal for North Staffordshire.

Decent result for the Newcastle-under-Lyme Conservatives, all things considered. How does the area usually vote in local elections? Aaron Bell would've done better in the seat in the General Election if he'd stood for the Conservatives I think because hew as one of the first Tory MPs to put a no confidence letter in during the shower of Alexander Boris De Pfefel Johnson's government. However, I might be letting my like of Aaron Bell blind me to the reality on the ground in the seat.
