In the next few months there are going to be a lot of byelections to replace councillors who have just been elected as MPs. Though I thought most of the Labour (then) PPCs had already resigned as councillors? Perhaps some slipped through the net, and I'm sure there'll be some Lib Dems as well. Some, standing for seats they considered safe or gambling that they were likely to win, managed to get their resignations in to have byelections on 4 July. But most did not. |

Three Rivers have published a NOV for Abbots Langley and Bedmond ward due to the resignation of Matthew Bedford (Lib Dem).

Wychavon, Badsey & Aldington (2027). Philippa Capel (Conservative) has ceased to be a councillor.
Wychavon, Harvington & Norton (2027). Bradley Thomas (Conservative) has ceased to be a councillor. He's just been elected MP for Bromsgrove.

I make it 142 council seats held by 133 people who have just been elected as MPs. I'll start a new thread with the list so as not to clutter this one. |

Hertfordshire, Bedwell (2025). Sharon Taylor, Baroness Taylor of Stevenage (Labour), has been removed from the list of councillors. Presumably resignation after becoming Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in MHCLG.

So far all I've found is this tweet from Islington council confirming that it is a resignation. Steadman's twitter account appears to be locked.
