"People are desperate for me to say this was Muslim men" Jess Phillips will criticise the behaviour of men for all sorts of reasons. Unless they're Muslim. Tbf to her, the constituency has a large Muslim population and bashing the community isn’t going to help her at all.

That simply isn’t true. She confronted and opposed the reactionary school protesters. Which rather obviously increased the level of abuse during the election. My personal view is that there are people involved in certain campaigns in the city who should be prosecuted, but I suppose getting evidence to hit the threshold isn't easy.

Boundary changes (and demographic changes to a degree, as people move out of the inner city) have made this seat quite different to what it was even ten years ago. I'm not a big fan, to be honest, but what I will say is that Jess Phillips has never seemed to me to pull her punches particularly towards anyone

It's classic Jess Phillips evasion, and one of the reasons I've never liked her.
As many have pointed out, if this was white men, or right-wing men, or football-supporting men, or pretty much any other demographic...she would have no problem at all in clearly, loudly, and repeatedly, identifying the problem ideology and demographic.
But yes, in terms of protecting her voting demographics this is probably the correct thing for her to do.

How can someone like that be involved in ruling the country when she can't even say what one of the problems is? Is she interested in making society better or just trying to win votes? Why does she even want to be an MP? I've trodden in deeper puddles

TBF a large majority of politicians put trying to win votes above other priorities. It's only annoying with Phillips because both she and the media cast her as someone who "tells it as it is", which she clearly doesn't and rarely has (except on Corbyn). Exactly the same on women's safety issues as well.

Well as some Labour person said on what we rightly still call Twitter after this result and its ugly backdrop "she (Phillips) might be an annoying gob****e but she's still *our* annoying gob****e". Whilst her main opponent came across as a totally repellent if not downright evil individual, pure scum.

I remember the Brexit Party candidate who lost the Peterborough by-election doing the same thing. It did not help his chances at the general election...

I didn't realise Chris Williamson disease could be severe enough to put you in a wheechair. You've got to be especially deranged to add "MP" to your name when you have never been one. That's a stage beyond what even Williamson managed.

Yardley anyone bought this would be close, including (it seems) Jess's opponent. The Workers' Party just didn't organise their vote and coalesce the anti-Labour vote. This was winnable for them, since johnhemming won it in 2005 and 2010, but I would wager Hemming's coalition was different to the WPB, although he may correct me since I'm pretty sure the Iraq War impacted the 2005 result.

I must admit, I had originally assumed that Jody McIntyre was a white woman rather than an Asian man.

I must admit, I had originally assumed that Jody McIntyre was a white woman rather than an Asian man. To my knowledge Jody McIntyre is not Asian. What I do know is that he is a convert to Islam - and you can see pictures of him from news articles as far back as 2012 when his appearance was recognisable but very different (no beard for one). His association with the Gaza cause comes from visiting there whilst a student.

Has the 'MP' addition is new?

I must admit, I had originally assumed that Jody McIntyre was a white woman rather than an Asian man. But in fact a delusional very ugly man with views to match it. He has cerebral palsy. I don't think it matters whether he is 'pretty' or 'ugly' As for delusions or views, some people might disagree, but others agree
