It’s likely to be close.

I suspect that Labour have a first-class ticket for this seaside resort in their pocket.

I suspect that Labour have a first-class ticket for this seaside resort in their pocket. And possibly Bracknell as well. But we are seeing this through the prism of politics.

Who’s next in line? I remember that it would have been Barry Sheerman but he’s standing down

Who’s next in line? I remember that it would have been Barry Sheerman but he’s standing down Corbyn can't be far off... If all the MPs who have not yet announced they are standing down are elected, Corbyn will be 2nd to Edward Leigh. Those two and Roger Gale would be almost equal, having first being elected in the 1983 election and with the difference based on the order of first being sworn in.

It is very difficult to see Edward Leigh losing.

The Hove 1997 of this election cycle potentially. I've been saying Worthing is the new Hove for some time now so that would make a certain kind of sense yes

Fair play Sir. Having the class to let the electorate give their verdict. Too many fair weather players in politics these days.

The Independent appears to be, or have been, an anti-abortion activist. She's also a nurse dealing with antenatal screening. Things that make you go hmmm.

Bottomley has a reputation in the 1990s among Eltham activists of being rather lazy about campaigning and attending to the local party. This may affect the voter ID and things such as leafletting networks.
For seats like this that doesn't matter, until it does.

Peter Bottomley will not be the Father of the House after July 4th. That Parliamentary accolade will go to Jeremy Corbyn or Edward Leigh (I'd slightly favour the former if Reform doom the latter). Worthing Labour are exceptionally competent. Demoraphics help.
