Must admit I was hoping it would at least be a bit closer than that - why are voters in Northants so determined to vote Tory at local level despite their discredited councils? We did pretty well in Kettering in the last local by-election there. Rushden has never been especially strong for Labour, so the result there wasn't much of a disappointment. The current lines of the Desborough division are far from ideal for us and even the town itself doesn't have that much reason to be a Labour bastion these days.
