Best ward for it. We would expect to do very well there. The article implies he will stand down in May though

Hainault is a bit difficult to call. The BNP vote may have come mainly from dissaffected Labour. Also the Tory vote should go down, so my call would be between UKIP and Labour.

www.accringtonobserver.co.uk/news/great-harwood-councillor-defects-ukip-6661452Ian Robinson elected as an Independent for Overton Ward on Hyndburn Borough Council in 2010. He intends to stand as a UKIP candidate this May but remains an Independent in the Independent group until then. I trust if reelected he will seek to chair the Judicial Committee (Private Hire and Hackney Carriage Licensing). "the deeper I get into politics the worse the country is"Class comment ! Presumably cause & effect. Reminds me of the Bono concert in Scotland, where he starting slowly clapping, then told the audience that every time he clapped, a child died. "Well stop f*****g clapping" came swiftly back ....

You're in Ukip and are telling us that? I'd assumed you'd be too embarrassed.

Most of us on this forum could probably guess the names of the most likely Tory MPs to be in discussions with UKIP.

And is probably still likely to do so. My guess is that there is a difference between someone who would switch to UKIP, & an MP who wanted to get UKIP backing. In the former group I would surprised if he was able to find 7, the latter I'm surprised he only found 7 ......

JRM is reactionary on some things but is he particularly UKIP material. I would have gone for Peter Bone, I would have suggested that UKIP would be foolish to touch Nadine as she would put off others as being a bit loopy.

"Councillor Grainger was not due to be a Conservative candidate in May, as he had failed in his application to be approved as a party candidate." Oh fall off my chair in surprise, & there was me thinking this was a principled decision ........
