It's also the case that there isn't a 1:1 input of more carbon emissions meaning more bad things.
For the UK at least warmer weather isn't a great problem, because we've got a temperate climate, but the increased likelihood of major weather events (flooding, strong winds etc.) is an issue. However, it's difficult to distinguish between the 1 in 1,000 year event you just had the bad luck to experience because that was the year in a thousand, and the 1 in 1,000 year event you experience because it's now more like a 1 in 100 year event.
Similarly, increases in temperature which are going to make bits of the planet unsuitable for the agriculture currently practiced there are undoubtedly going to cause mass migration (to say nothing of cases where the wet bulb temperature becomes high enough the area is de facto uninhabitable.) At least some of that mass migration is going to end up on our shores - and the wider disruption is going to be bad for stability and the global economy. But "we need to deal with climate change so that we only get a low four figure amount of refugees from the Sahel in 2040 rather than a high five figure amount" isn't exactly the snappiest slogan.

Skidmore has written to Jeremy Hunt asking to be appointed to the Chiltern Hundreds or Northstead.

Hunt should reply and tell him no. He would still be disqualified for having applied.

Fine, as I've said, I think us polluting our environment is stupid. It doesn't however make your original statement correct, which was my original point.

The Chancellor has apparently appointed Skidmore:
And yet again hasn’t put the statement on gov.uk. Hunt’s predecessors used to be much better.

A role worthy of his talents.
The MSM regularly point out, rightly, the stupidity, of thsoe who deny the existence of man made contribution ot climate change.
They are however very reticent to address the stupidity of the likes of XR and the Green Party. I would like Dok to be a regular on BBC Five Live.

Ironically, they didn’t even have second reading of the oil licensing bill today. The time was taken up with the Post Office statement.

Skidmore has written to Jeremy Hunt asking to be appointed to the Chiltern Hundreds or Northstead. Is Skidmore any relation to the Frederic Skidmore who stood for Stockport South in 1979? We always called him Skidmark during the election campaign.

Damien Egan, Directly Elected Mayor of Lewisham and the already selected Labour PPC for Bristol North East at the general election (for which around 36% of the current Kingswood constituency will be moved into) has won the Labour selection.
This also sets up a Lewisham Mayoral by-election, only a few months after Hackney had a Mayoral by-election.

Once elected for Kingswood, I wonder whether Damian Egan will stick with Bristol North East or ‘risk’ North East Somerset & Hanham

If writs are not moved by close of Commons business tomorrow, by elections at Wellingborough and Kingswood will not happen before 22nd February.

He's already selected for it and it's the seat more aligned with where he grew up, why would you give that up for a less safe seat?

The timetable is 21 to 27 working days, so in a period where there are no public holidays the deadline to issue the writ for a by-election on a particular Thursday is the Wednesday four weeks earlier. Hence tomorrow is the deadline for 8 February, and Wednesday next week is the deadline for the 15th, etc.

Perhaps a by election has a slightly different timetable.
