According to Wiki: Mark Buthcher (Reform) Wasn't he in East Enders? That was Mark Fowler. Mark Butcher followed his dad in playing cricket for Surrey and England and is now one of the better TV commentators in an increasing pool of dross.

Few cricketers are more transformed in their appearance post-retirement than Graeme "Foxy" Fowler.

As did his dad, but not all that often.

A party called "NONPOL" intends to stand here. They have a Twitter presence, such as this recent post, directly asking Julian Assange's wife to email them:

Anyone who follows Mark Butcher on social media will know he is no Reform supporter. He's definitely on the Left politically.

If the social media rumours were true he was approached to stand for Labour against Ken Livingstone as Mayor of London

We heard you the first time I assume this was for the original 2000 election? A fair few "non-political" names were floated around that time, before poor old Frank was made the fall guy.

I really do tire of people who are obviously in political parties but claim they aren't political, or if they're elected to office aren't politicians.

This did not go down well with his County captian and brother in law Alex Stewart. As to Buthers politics, they may or not be influenced by the fact that he is arguably the only black man to have captained England if one regards ethnic Asians like Nasser Hussein as not black and men whose mum in Jamaican and dad (Butcher) is white as being notionally black. Given his dads playing time in Apartheid South Africa, I had wrongly guessed that his mum was Coloured or Black African Did Ranji never captain England?

No, Ranji did not captain England, indeed I doubt that it would been seen as acceptable in those days for him to have done so

Note also that Ranji captained Sussex 1899-1903 at a time when the county certainly had other amateurs available.

I'm not aware that Alan Butcher played in apartheid era South Africa. He was coach of Zimbabwe for quite a while though. Mark Butcher is the most capped England player from a Caribbean heritage, Nasser Hussein is indeed the player from a non white background to have captained England the most often. Fifth England player of Asian heritage to play in an Ashes test and the first to not score a century on debut. Ranji was the first - anyone name the next three?

Players of Asian heritage to play in an Ashes test - Iftikhar, Nawab of Pataudi (also played for India), K.S.Duleepsinhji (Ranji's nephew), and perhaps Raman Subba Row? I presume the latter has Asian heritage, though I don't know for sure. They all scored centuries in their Ashes débuts. Subba Row also scored one in his final Ashes Test. He should have played longer for England.
