So, I wonder who will stand for the Workers' Party? I am sure Mr Galloway will be rushing across with his bandwagon any minute now. not a seat where I'd expect them to figure much at all. There was a large amount of irony ladled into the question.

He came quite close (110 votes or c. 13%) to winning Bloomfield ward as an independent in 2023 - finishing ahead of an incumbent (ex Labour) councillor who also stood as an independent and the two Conservative candidates.

Think there'll be any more? According to Wiki: Mark Buthcher (Reform) Damon Sharp (NONPOL ) - New Open Non-Political Organsied Leadership - never heard of them either! nonpol.com/A rather odd ragbag of policies. On climate change, they aren't bothered about CO2 emissions, but want to reduce methane instead by killing all cows. Apparently we should all be eating horse or zebra instead.

I've got to say.... what an absolute fucking shambles the Conservative Party are. I vaguely know this bloke from his time as a Councillor. But how can CCHQ get it so consistently wrong? Well, actually, I know how they do it. They pick and, more importantly, support candidates, not on their ability to make good political decisions but on their ability to put their hand up when told to do so, to remain seated in the boat, and to kiss copious amounts of arse.

It claims that The Conservative Party is projected to halve from 49% to 25% and Reform is projected to double from 6% to 12% but that By-elections do unusual things therefore Reform will beat the Conservative Party and will be in 2nd place

There is a lot of discussion locally about how he runs his charity and how his family/business/charity interests interact. I don't know how true any of it is but would expect muck to be raked if Labour feel threatened by him. He had a huge bust up with Chris Webb and Blackpool Council because the official Blackpool Foodbank refused to provide any support for Mark's charity because of the way it was run. His Bloomfield local campaign was very interesting including prize competitions, free pizzas and no imprints on a lot of material although it did get a bit more professional towards the end. He has a very interesting back story (found God, became a reformed character and started his charities) so could gain traction if he avoids doing/saying something crazy.

There doesn't seem to be anything especially controversial there. Most of the FB stuff is just re facebooking national Reform material. It's not obvious how he is any more or less controversial than any other Reform candidate would be.

Note the "come home". Andrew Cregan was elected as Labour councillor for Island Gardens ward in Tower Hamlets in 2014, only to defect to the Liberal Democrats in February 2017. Didn't defend his council seat but stood for the Liberal Democrats in Poplar and Limehouse in 2019.

David Jones, chairman of the Fylde constituency party, selected for the Conservatives. He was selected on the first ballot and went heavily on his local credentials - born at Blackpool Vic, met his childhood sweetheart studying at Blackpool Sixth etc. He does seem to have done some pretty impressive charity fundraising and was well aware of the complex issues facing Blackpool.

Standing for such a no hope by-election will doubtlessly place him as first choice for Fylde when Menzies steps down.
