Just to say this will be my final entry for the competition. I have decided I will be leaving the competition this time with the New Year, and indeed to end posting on the Forum altogether at the same time. I have had little rests before, and wondered whether to return, but this one is for good. So long ,and thanks for all the fish Oh, that is a pity, I enjoy your contributions. I hope you and Eileen have a happy Christmas and life ahead.

And wish him and Eileen all the very best.

Nothing is forever, of course, but change is always unsettling. All the best with everything.

Would like to echo the sentiment for yellowperil, sorry to see your decision but wishing you all the best for the future. 15 entries to close the month with Richard Cromwell returning. All on time, but with andrewp picking up 2 faults for going over in Blaby and greenman picking up 0.5 for going over in Leicestershire. Glen Parva, Blaby: 100% Liberal Democrat hold, with majorities ranging from 24% (iainbhx) to 43.7% (greenman). Ventnor and St Lawrence, Isle of Wight: 6 Labour gain from Conservative and 6 Liberal Democrat gain, with andrewp, batman and Robert Waller Conservative hold. Blaby and Glen Parva, Leicestershire: 100% Liberal Democrat hold, with majorities ranging from 16% (iainbhx) to 48% (Richard Cromwell). I won't be able to post results until tomorrow, but they will be available here - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_oQgEpnCXIY4JStjh4KDJoPl3UK9QQt-BDm5NM079H0/edit?usp=sharing - when I'm able to. Good luck to all, hope you have a very good festive period and see you next year!

I know Robbie isn't available this evening, but by my rough counting I think batman has won the week. Congratulations! The month seems to have ended as a very close contest, and I'd like to wait for the official declaration. But my guess is that the podium positions may be taken by myself, andrewp and yellowperil on what may be a farewell appearance. He will be much missed if it is.

But my guess is that the podium positions may be taken by myself, andrewp and yellowperil on what may be a farewell appearance. He will be much missed if it is. My quick calculations on the podium positions came to the same order. I rather blew my chances of going out with a monthly win by taking a somewhat reckless gamble on the IoW- one of those where you wish you could change your mind almost as soon as you have pressed the send key. It could have come off but given the shortness of time, the season, and the non-local candidate it was always asking a lot. And yes, that was my last farewell. Have fun in 2024! I might still be tempted to peek , but not to post. postscript- I thought the margin between Andrew and myself was really tight- I have just noticed that Andrew had 2 penalty points for going over the 100- very uncharacteristic!- so it might be even tighter than I thought.

I don't know what it was that stopped our esteemed moderator from declaring the official competition results last night, but I was hoping it was a really good party and it's still ongoing.

Thanks, robbienicoll, I now this is a busy time of year for many. I'm pleased to see that yellowperil did manage to end up in second place for the month. I have updated the Form Guide.

let's hope my improved form is a harbinger of things to come in 2024! 'Harbinger'! Nice word. Just a bit sinister perhaps? Could be a minor lay office-of-profit in a monastic order.

Maybe life in a monastery wouldn't be so bad - excellent beer for a start
