Shouldn't this be in the rumoured and ramped thread? Are you about to reveal why an inexperienced and attractive young woman came to get nominated for this seat in the first place?

Given the circumstances this should be another simple pick up opportunity for Labour. Granted the MP elected will only serve a matter of months before dissolution. One last hurrah for the 2005-2024/5 boundaries.

Hardly anyone cares whether politicians have affairs anymore; it happens so often in politics that it has lost all meaning.

Any cover-up, any Covid context, and any questions of abuse of position (if any of these are relevant - I genuinely don't know) may be significant. I make this as a general point. I do not know what may or may not have happened, or who was involved, in any current issues related to Airdrie & Shotts.

It's good of the Mail to inform us (twice) that the affair was 'torrid'.
Is there any extramarital affair that the Mail would not describe as 'torrid'?
And what is the word 'torrid' contributing to this story anyway? What does it even mean in this context? After all, it would be possible for a married couple to engage in exciting and passionate sex with each other, but not even the Mail would describe such an activity as 'torrid'.

Whilst we can say it is none of our business, and speaking hypothetically, if it transpired that a person, who was in a position of specific responsibility during the Lockdown period, broke the rules of which they were supposed to have oversight, how could they , in the light of what happened to Matt Hancock and (perhaps more interestingly) Margaret Ferrier, both of whom were viciously assailed by the SNP leadership, hope to remain in post? All hypothetical of course.
