Where will be the best website/channel for coverage of this by-election and the Kingswood by-election? If Labour win GBNews. It’ll be f**king hilarious. On a serious point - no sign of any serious coverage alas.

It's such a crazy situation that byelections have become something you only see covered in detail on the internet by amateurs, when the BBC used to think nothing of having an overnight programme even for ultra safe seats.

I would point the honourable gentleman to the statement made earlier. Oof. Read that twice and somehow missed that. Fair cop.

Related to this. When the NY special election happened earlier this week, I used my VPN and watched US programming and YouTube channels which otherwise I couldn't access. I flicked between three channels - admittedly two MAGA and one exceptionally amateur so didn't stick around - and wondered why the UK doesn't have something similar.

Possibly down to differences in how the count is conducted and data is disseminated? In the US, it seems that polling stations essentially each give their own declarations and these come in gradually, with public figures available that can be discussed. In this country (at a by-election) we would have one count in one physical place, and nothing is really revealed until that final declaration - there are rumours but nothing concrete comes out until the returning officer gives the figures in black and white.

Yeah that's fair. I guess I'm pining for the overnight TV more than I am the YouTubers, anyway. Maybe I should look at crafting a Discord channel ☺️

Maybe we could do a go-fund-me for our very own VoteUK News channel There is something to be said for creating a YouTube channel which goes live for Thursday byelection nights and what not. It's just a case of someone getting around to do it and I think we've been down this cul-de-sac before. (Though my US experience was that the right wing and MAGA crowd have got there before us, with their channels seemingly part of the scene)

I wouldnt have a clue where to even start but there must be some on the forum who have a working knowledge of recording for YouTube/ podcasting etc? We could have special "guests" too who've been on "proper" tv like johnhemming Robert Waller et al

Consider yourself lucky. In France, there usually are a couple of articles in national media AFTER the first round of by elections were held. No campaign. No debate. No media coverage. And after that, the same media hold whiny debates about low turn out and public engagement.

I think what bothers me is it comes across as quite partisan. It's perhaps hyperbole but it's like Novara of the right I can see that. I'd say Channel 4 News and some BBC is probably the equivalent. However, I get where you're coming from. I think the hard news bit in the day is much more balanced, but the evening shows like 'Patrick Christys' is undeniably right of centre - and I say that as a fan of that show. Though, to defend it, there's always at least one leftist on. Tonight, Christys has a former Ed Miliband adviser Matthew Laza and they give as good as they get, which is why they're on I suspect.

Correct I don’t, but I do know that Mr Peter Bone being replaced by a 27 year Labour wokest charity worker activist will go down wonderfully should it happen.
