To the tune of 'It's raining cake'. Pearl & Dean? The dancing duo from the mid-20thC halls. Quite briefly my uncle (Mother's brother) was MD before being the same at Manganese Bronze Holdings ( a company making ship's cowels and London cabs!)

If Lee Rotherham is Lee Rotherham, the die-hard Brexiteer, that will be two former parliamentary candidates standing in Lambeth Vauxhall ward to be a local councillor. Jacqueline Bond, the Green Party candidate, has been too and is currently their prospective candidate for the Vauxhall parliamentary constituency. Three in fact since Daniel Lambert has stood there for the SPGB in the past. Is this a record: three former would-be MPs standing in the same ward to be a councillor? Could the attraction be that the Houses of Parliament can be seen from the ward on the other side of the Thames?

Re the Vauxhall ward election, the rare presence of a SPGB candidate is relatively unsurprising since their national HQ is in the constituency, in Clapham High Street where it is neighboured by trendy & upmarket eateries including a long-established tapas bar. Given that the candidate gives a home address in Epping Forest district, I wonder if he qualifies as he works for the party at that address? very likely I'd say

Tiny socialist party amasses £2.6m in reserves

4 right of centre candidates in Tamworth this week.
This might be a stupid question, but how many times have UKIP and Reform Uk ever stood against each other before. Is it as few as I think it is?

Both the UKIP and Reform candidates are also the candidates for the parliamentary by-election in a couple of weeks.

Actually, Andrew does make the point that the reasons for the Haringey resignations were not clear. Did we ever have a statement from either or both councillors, or from the local Labour party about it?

Say has a low profile and describes herself as 'community gardener and socialist' on her Twitter account. I'm not on the platform formerly known as Twitter but someone might want to check her posts for evidence. Her location is still listed as 'North London'.

Last tweeted in 2012 - mostly about her Vodaphone bill.. Well that doesn't give us much to go on. I suspect she was a sort of hold out leftist who finally gave up the ghost. Only rose to the heights of chairing the pension panel or whatever it's called these days.

Looking at that map makes me realise that I walked through Vauxhall ward last week on my way to the theatre where I met Matthew Mitcham. Inexplicably I didn’t notice the thousands of election posters and placards in people’s windows and front gardens.

in council by-elections it's now very rare for parties to make much effort to get window posters up.

Somewhat belatedly, but what do we know about the Independent candidate who was the highest scoring loser in White Hart Lane in 2022? Any indication of where his/her votes might go to?
