He endorse the Tories in 1979 didn't he? yes. He said that "Maggie Thatcher is closer to my kind of socialism than Jim Callaghan". What Margaret Thatcher made of this is not known. I get the impression that in the late 1970s and 1980s a Lord George-Brown endorsement was something parties really, really, really wanted... ...for their opponents.

Stephen Dorrell joined the Liberal Democrats and stood for the Party in Buckingham at the 2019 General Election. And wasn't he one of [Whatever They Were Called That Week]'s candidates for the EU Parliament as well?

Although of course Tim Aker had a somewhat significant affect there in 2015 and 2017 I hadn't realised how well Aker did in this seat in 2015, and 2017 (in terms of the relatively small drop. Did the exit poll in 2015 have the two UKIP seats as Clacton, and Thurrock or were Rochester and Strood, and South Thanet included?

I'm not sure it would work like that as the poll assigns each party a probability of winning a seat not saying they will definitely win it.

As a general rule, I think most of the Conservatives who defected to us either directly or via Change UK are still with us, whereas most of the Labour MPs who joined us gave rejoined Labour They took Chuka back? Or is he searching for a new party? Watch out children everywhere! Chuka might try to join your birthday party.

I'm not sure about Chuka. He certainly gave money to our North Shropshire campaign, so around 20 months back, he was still on board it seems. Don't know about today. Certainly don't think he's active, but we'll perhaps know more when the next election comes

To the best of my knowledge Chuka Umunna has not rejoined the Labour Party. Had he applied to do so, and been rejected, I feel sure we would have heard about it. I personally am not in a hurry to see him return.

Anyone mentioned Andrew Pelling? Conservative Councillor from a young age in Croydon, London Assembly member then MP for Croydon Central, independent, then once Momentum backed Labour Councillor in Waddon... now probably perennial independent candidate in most future elections in the town for years to come.

Well, I suppose technically they could have 100% chance in two specific seats and 0% in every other seat, but that's not what happened in this instance!

I have a vague recollection that Keith Best (former Conservative MP for Yns Mon) joined the LibDems at some point and maybe fought a Welsh Assembly election for the Party. According to Wikipedia he is currently a Conservative so it is possible my memory is at fault.

I knew Keith Best throughout my 20-year membership of the Electoral Reform Society (1995 to 2015) and throughout that whole time he was a Conservative. I last met him in Croydon in c.2019 at a Conservative Party hustings meeting for the prospective candidates for London mayor. I don’t remember ever hearing or reading anything about him ever leaving the Conservative Party at any time, before or after any of these events - so I’m fairly sure you’re thinking of someone else.

He was at last year's party conference and many before then so he wouldn't have left after you last met him.

According to Wikipedia he is currently a Conservative so it is possible my memory is at fault. You might be thinking of Keith Raffan, who was Tory MP for Delyn in the 80s before defecting to the Lib Dems, and later being elected as a Lib Dem MSP in 1999

I think David Marquand re-joined Labour.
Does Paul Marsden of Shrewsbury count? Lab to LibDem back to Lab?
Or Brian Sedgemore Lab to LibDem?

I personally am not in a hurry to see him return. Chuka Umunna is in fact now a Met Police sergeant in Islington, as can be seen from 14 minutes onward in this video. His mannerisms are still the same as when he was an MP too.
