Incumbent (North of Tyne)- Jamie Driscoll, elected as Lab Coop but currently independent.
This is an expansion of the current area.

The Conservatives could come through the middle here? š Maybe in a 2021 type environment which this election most certainly will not be, but depends on if this coincides with the general election where I would put their chances even lower.

Driscoll's online claque are all convinced he will win in a landslide, so nothing to worry about there

A reminder that the Tories won Bedford Mayoralty with around 1/3 of the vote.
It's unlikely to happen here, but it'd be funny to see if it did. FPTP happenstance.

I don't see how the Tories get a third of the vote here given the territory included. Not in the current climate.

Not all of that territory is in the electoral area. In fact only a bit of it is.

This fight feels like Lab vs Ind Lab in Blyth Valley in 1974.

Conservative candidate will be Guy Renner-Thompson, Northumberland councillor for Bamburgh since 2017. Been for cake with my parents at his wifeās cafe and can thoroughly recommend it. Despite this unlikely my parents will vote for him. Both of them seem likely to go with Kim McGuinness. My dad might stick with Jamie Driscoll but I suspect he wonāt in the end.

Will he be standing on a platform of joining Scotland this time as well?
