I shall copy this post across from the existing Vote UK Almanac threadOK folks, AdminSTB has kindly now put up the regional Vote UK Almanac New Boundary sub-boards! Many thanks. As before, contributors can start each individual new constituency thread, I would prefer with a seat profile (though in due course I may well add the statistics as previously). I expect that the task will be eased by the the need to modify and update previous entries, if they don't need writing from scratch, and there will be plenty of cutting and pasting on my part at least. No rush, it would be better to do these as well as possible, and I think we have until well into 2024 before the General Election. I myself have to focus mainly on public exam marking for the next ten days or so, and will not be entering revised versions of many of the seats I previously did immediately (except perhaps for some with no or minimal boundary changes). But I do now intend to PM those who wrote the existing profiles to invite them to update, plus asking Pete Whitehead about his notional results and bjornhattan about more 2021 Census figures. I would like to thank in advance all who are willing to help this project! p.s. I would ask that people use the correct (and full) Boundary Commission titles of constituencies, even if they don't like them!

In the Redcar thread which I just made, I decided that I would include links to the old threads at the top, the statistics being from www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/bdy2023_neast_summary.html. Anyone reading the new Vote Almanac may appreciate convenient links to the threads under the old boundaries along with any information they may contain, so I felt it was a good idea to do so.

I will take the seats I did before, and probably the "new" Bicester & Woodstock seat which is my grandmother's new constituency

I'm happy to pick up the descriptions for the new Banbury and Oxford East (and I'll fill in any gaps that appear in areas I know well like the North East).

Both Bournemouth seats are up, not a huge amount of updating needed. All Dorset seats I did before I will update.

Just to confirm that I will be updating all the seats I did originally. However I am currently calculating the to/from percentages for all seats, as I wish to include this, I will need to update my local election info,as most profiles were done in 2020/1, and there have been a couple of elections since, and while calculating census statistics for the new constituencies would be a major project, I do wish to look at the ward data for any significant changes. Oh and I have a holiday booked. So even where there is little or no change to a constituency it will be August before my updates start.
If others choose to write profiles for seats where I did the original in the meantime, I have decided that I will do an updated profile anyway, without regard to theirs. Readers will then be able to choose.
There are a number of other seats where I could do profiles, but will not do so without checking with the original poster. The sole exception is Birmingham Yardley, where the original poster is banned.

I intend to do updated profiles for the seats that I completed last time around and the new seats in those geographical areas. There are other seats particularly in the South West and South Wales that I could do but will check with the person who did the original profiles before starting to write any where I did not do the original profile,

Having done a number of seats near my home in London, I will do profiles of the other Ealing & Hounslow borough seats, the Merton seats, Spelthorne, the K&C seats, East Ham where I used to live, Cambridge, and all the Brighton & Hove seats. I could probably do a decent job of Bury South. I aim to do one of these a day. Should there be a lack of boundary changes I may simply reuse my previous profiles. I may be able to help with some other seats too.

I'm not sure if the boundary changes in Brighton & Hove amount to much. I'm happy for John Chanin to write or just copy & paste profiles for those three seats if preferred. My knowledge of the city comes from my time as a postgraduate student, and I voted in Brighton Pavilion in the 1983 general election. I have been a fairly frequent visitor since, especially when my parents had a flat there (also in that constituency).

Suggest I copy and paste (updated as above), and then you add comments where you think useful. Much the same applies to East Ham, which I know well from working for Newham council for a decade, and living nearby. My experience may be a little more recent than yours. There are bigger changes here.

My wife has two sisters living (just) in the East Ham constituency, and is a more frequent visitor than I am. However I am planning for old time's sake to knock up on Thursday for a time in the Wall End by-election even though Boleyn is said to be a more interesting contest - I might drop in there too

Christchurch is up, no changes to boundaries so just a slight update on this year's council results and a few extra tidbits here and there. I've also created a checklist in the south west forum to cross off constituencies as they are done. Poole is next on my to do list.

Does anyone else want to profile Hackney North & Stoke Newington? John Chanin? If not, I’ll give it a go.

As a former resident, worker, and councillor for the area, I will certainly be updating my profile in due course. As I have said previously you can do what you like, but it is unfortunate that you have chosen seats where I have lived, worked, and stood for council, which is why I reacted so strongly. For the majority of my profiles I would be relaxed if someone else had a go, but not for my home area of Camden, Islington, Hackney, and Newham. I won't be reading anything you post in these areas.

I have been involved in a few constituencies on the old boundaries and I am happy to see these used again, part-used, dismembered or rifled for material, or junked and done again. I leave the new compilers carte blanche to do with my material as they see fit. I do not wish to be involved in the new constituencies and have no access to the new boundaries and a diminished interest in being personally involved in the project. I warmly support and commend the efforts of those who are embracing this large task and read some of it with great interest.

As I have been adding Census statistics (very kindly compiled specially for this forum by bjornhattan) to various entries already posted, I would like to thank all the contributors so far for their efforts and expertise. I have already learned much from them. One thing I would ask people to note is that one of the main points of this updating of the Vote UK online Almanac is to address the boundary changes now confirmed by the various Commissions. The raison d'etre of the very first book form Almanac back in 1983 was the imminence of an election on new boundaries, although I always hope it would be a book, which became a series, on far more than boundary changes. Nevertheless I would suggest that contributors do address any such changes, and if possible their political effects, and give this some prominence, and clarity, in their treatment. On occasion (only) I have found this element a little hard to identify. I do realise that I have not set a good example myself, as the seats I have updated have so far been those with unchanged boundaries, as I am guilty of taking the line of least resistance while preoccupied with other commitments. However from now on shall be addressing those constituencies I previously profiled which do have changed lines. We do have many months, I think, to complete this project, but I would like to thank everyone who has so enthusiastically made inroads already and also hope that they and others will continue to support this project. As we still have over 500 seats to address, this will need steady progress!

I have now chewed my way through all the profiles I did in the first burst of enthusiasm in 2020, and need a break. I will pick up the others I did subsequently, which should need less updating, in October when I return from my next holiday. Around Christmas I will consider what other seats I might do, that haven't yet been updated, and will PM the original writers to see whether they are intending to do so (which would be preferable as in almost all cases they know the areas better than me).
