We are now at the point where candidates and agents are looking at the spoilt ballots. My favorite moment as a candidate. Great fun. My least favourite bit was in my three-member ward seeing votes for the top two Lab candidates, a vote for the incumbent Indy (formerly Lab), and a cross for me, at the bottom of the ballot paper... rubbed out.

The wait is clearly the result of the Emperor of India asking for a sedan chair up to the stage.

Well, suffice to say I was very much wrong in predicting a close contest.

I thought Labour would win comfortably but not that comfortably
Clearly Tories voted tactically but that can't explain it all away like the SNP seemed to be trying to

Yes, yes, it's only a one of by-election,
But it is a self-fulfilling prophecy
The SNP is going to get utterly destroyed next year
I predicted three months ago. 15 seats. I might have been overstating it.

I think if you applied the same changes to every seat, the SNP would actually be wiped out. Aberdeen North was the safest SNP seat with a 33% lead.
