Dorset Council, Sherborne West. Matt Hall, Lib Dem has resigned after moving to Devon and being elected to East Devon District Council for the Exmouth Ward. I believe this makes Devon County Council the only principle authority in the South West that has had no elections this year, scheduled or by elections, and does not have a by election pending. |

I note that in the East Suffolk council elections, Labour had only one candidate in Eastern Felixstowe (which the Lib Dems won two out of three seats in), and the Liberal Democrats had no candidates in Western Felixstowe (which Labour won all three seats in). |

BBC reports the sad death of Cllr Richard Body, Labour councillor for
Wollescote and Cradley on Dudley MBC. Cllr Body was only re-elected last Thursday.

Believe it or not, Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole, East Cliff and Springbourne Ward, Labour's Martin Bedford has resigned just five days after being elected. Quite an interesting by election, seeing as the top Green missed out by only 12 votes. Edit: Full report in the Bournemouth Echo |

Bath & North East Somerset, Paulton (2) will be on 22 June.
Surrey Heath, Frimley Green (3) will be on 15 June.
West Devon, Burrator (2) will be on 15 June.

Yes, I did wonder if this is effectively a non story because it happened prior to the declaration, unfortunately BBC News website is quite sloppy these days. |
