Sue Waller was the second Labour candidate last year. Peter Zinkin was Conservative councillor for Childs Hill ward from 2014-2022 and missed out on a seat there last May on the new boundaries by 98 votes. The Lib Dem and Rejoin candidates also contested other wards last May (Woodhouse and Totteridge & Woodside respectively)

Andrew Jennings was the Conservative candidate here in 2021 and is sitting district councillor for the slightly smaller St Neots Eatons ward since last May. He had also briefly been councillor for St Neots Eaton Socon on the old boundaries from 2011-12 before losing out to the deceased indy. Colin Maslen also contested St Neots Eaton ward for the St Neots Independent Group in 2022, missing out on the third seat by 27 votes (he had been district councillor for the ward 2018-2022). Geoffrey Seeff also contested the district ward for the Liberal Democrats in 2022.

(Which in retrospect looks really strange - I don't know how keen Mark Littlewood of the IEA is now to be reminded that he was its Head of Press and not only stood for the EP but persuaded his then girlfriend to be a paper candidate)

Geoff Seeff in Cambridgeshire is I presume the same Geoff Seeff who has been a fairly perennial parliamentary candidate for the Lib Dems.

I think people found it strange at the time. Donnelly then went over to the Lib Dems for a bit before spending a period trying and trying again with Yes2Europe and then a "UK EPP" only to demonstrate conclusively that there's no market for a pro EU conservative party.

he was the Conservative candidate for my constituency of London West before that. Met him at the count - he seemed a very civilised individual

In the Cornwall UA election Labour's Natassia Player is the chairman of St Erth parish council.

St Erth was of course mentioned in the Flanders and Swan song "The Slow Train".

But wrongly. It has not "passed out of our lives" and remains open and indeed on the Cornish main line with hourly trains to and from Paddington.

Yes, there were quite a few stations named in that song that remain open, Ambergate being another.  One suspects that the names were chosen for their lyrical qualities rather than on the basis of accuracy.

Two of my daughters live in the Eatons ward of Cambridgeshire; one has had a visit yesterday from both the Lib Dem and Tory candidates, thirty minutes apart - the Tory following the Lib Dem.
Not sure what leaflets have been delivered to date by any of the contestants - I shall sneak a look tomorrow when I'm visiting...

Marazion has one of the best pasty shops in Penwith- Philps. They have a few other locations in the area too IIRC.

Used to frequent the area regularly when I was studying in Falmouth as Marazion Bay and area is fantastic for birding. Was always worth trekking from the RSPB reserve into the village for sustenance.

Another vote for Ann’s Pasties. The best pasties I have ever tasted. They have a shop in Helston as well as the Lizard.
