Some strange stories floating around that Neil Parish is considering standing as an Independent. I know, he says he seriously considering it. To what purpose, though?

If he’s considering that why resign in the first place? Could have just rode it out for the rest of the Parliament even if the Tories kicked him out

I always wonder whether people that have ‘discovered’ what Boris Johnson is like over the past two years, are either thick or have been living in a different world to me the prior 20 years. His shambles tenure has been totally and utterly unsurprising.

Labour win in a town council by-election in Tiverton yesterday - by drawing lots!

A single horse and a man in dungarees walking behind it. What you really mean and I know you are thinking, is an attractive girl in low fronted dungarees and nothing else!

His shambles tenure has been totally and utterly unsurprising. A lot of them will have previously seen him as "that man who tells it how it is, plus he's funny". Same with the rule breaking. When he breaks rules like "you shouldn't be nasty to people" that his followers agree are stupid, he's the only authentic politician. When he breaks rules that he made and almost all of us followed, that's dishonest. The problem being that the chronic rulebreaking is a part of who he is regardless of which rule it is

I know it’s an issue for all polling these days, but that focus group seems very unrepresentative. Most obviously, the Lib Dems are polling at or below their 2019 general election result but apparently all the ‘swing’ voters are already switching to them before the by-election campaign has even really begun. The fact they are described as “very high awareness’ is emblematic of sampling problems, yet the pollster does not seem to realise this. Regardless of how representative it is, it is brilliant material for Lib Dem leaflets!

Neil Parish standing as an Independent gets a mention in the Times today,
‘ it is an option for me, and one that I could consider. At the moment, I’m taking soundings’, ‘ I have the financial support of powerful backers within the farming community. Don’t forget I have fought 5 local elections, 2 European elections, and three or four or five parliamentary elections. So I know how elections work. I’m a grassroots politician, made my own way through the ranks, so I know how to fight an election if I wanted to.’
