What if Ken Clarke became Tory leader in 1997? His handling of the ERM would have been brought up at every opportunity and the Tories would have done even worse in 2001. |

As a senior minister at the time, he was involved in the decisions made and mared by them. He also later advocated rejoining the ERM. No credibility.
