Labour might be able to snatch the Luton seat, but lib dems are probably still favourites to hold. Darlington easy labour hold.
Haven't got a clue whatsoever about pembrokeshire!

In Pembrokeshire, Summons is the anointed successor of the previous councillor, and as such is probably the candidate of the ruling Independent Group on the council. He was lined up as candidate before Wildman's resignation. Harvey is standing as an independent opposed to the council's administration. He stood last year, in Tory colours, in a different ward. Burton ward is fairly conservative territory. Wildman initially won his seat as a Tory, though that allegiance was short-lived (although his newsletter was still titled 'In Touch' right up to his resignation) In normal circumstances, I'd predict a fairly comfortable win for Summons. A couple of the other candidates are from out-of-district. But the current independent administration is fairly 'beleaguered', with its education system in special measures etc., and lots of wards in this part of Pembs were won by explicitly non-aligned independents last May. If Harvey and the other candidates can make it an election about how Pembs is run, rather than about who is a good local chap, it might get interesting. I expect there'll be quite a lot of comment on the election on the blogs of 2 of the unaligned independent councillors - Jacob Williams and Mike Stoddart.

Lyme Regis town council elections are always fought on a non-political basis. The late Barbara Austin was elected without a description.
Jill Newton did not stand in 2011, but she is presumably also non-political. The council did not publish the SOPN, only the Notice of Uncontested Election, which does not always give the description.

I have been informed of a by-election on the 11th in Cornholme ward, Todmorden town council. All I know is that one of my friends plays quiz with the Labour candidate.

Todmorden TC - Cornholme Ward www.calderdale.gov.uk/council/democracy/election-information/notices/index.htmlI bet that polling caravan at Lineholme will be a bit nippy next week. Blimy, they'll be lucky to see 70 odd voters there.

David Jones, the independent candidate in the Todmorden by-election is a very odd fellow. Full on neo-Nazi with mental health issues.

He was in the British Peoples Party and flirts around with other far-right groups who mostly laugh at him. Claire Khaw was a close friend for a while until a hilarious falling out a few months ago.

The almost total absence of anything that can actually be called political in any of the election addresses is striking.
