Based on current polls looking like a rerun of the last one.

Last time the Portuguese pollsters performed perfectly, per party missing by less than 1%: This turn will have been harder to poll, but the researched 3-5% lead for PS seems to be reasonable.

Sitting in my local bar in southern Portugal now. Socialist supporters very happy. Tv predicted between 100 and 117 seat for PS. Looking at higher end now as 6 points up on last time. 116 needed for majority.

Every vote counts.
Braganca district all in, PS wins 26495 to 26480 or 40.30% to 40.28%. Three member constituency splitting 2-1 thanks to those 15 votes. That's a seat gain, too.

My Portuguese language teacher comes from Braganca. Hope she was one of the 15. Will ask her at my lesson on Tuesday. She is still registered in Braga ca and told us last week she was doing an absentee ballot at the local town hall.

Was the strongest PS district last time, the only district where they broke 40% and the only mainland district where the combined right beat the combined left

Agreed. Very odd being in Portugal where the PSD are the Tories and the CDU are a communist/green union!!

Looks like PSD will fail to win a single mainland district, as all the ones they won last time seem to have voted for PS tonight. They have still won Made it a however (and there are no "rest of the world" results yet)

Earlier posts on this thread referred to Brenda from Braga, although in light of recent exchanges she was probably from Braganca. Overall disaster for the communists and Left Bloc (Corbynistas) who were turkeys voting for Christmas.

With 199 seats counted the current scoreline is:
PS 107, PPD/PSD 65, CH 10, IL 5, BE 3, CDU (PCP-PEV) 4. Already the "hard left" are set for a severe drubbing, and both PAN (Portugal's Animal Welfare Party) and LIVRE (Portugal's "light green" party) are facing elimination from the Assembly of the [Portuguese] Republic.
Furthermore PS are topping the poll in every Portuguese region-even Villa Real and Braganca.
