I wish there was more choice in these things - Boursin vs President Brie would be a much more interesting contest.

Leader of the World Mountain People Movement apparently. I had no idea such a thing existed. It's probably him and his family, who are all shepherds if he is to be believed.

My stepmother (currently on polling duty, which seemed odd to me as a she is a councillor) mentioned price controls to me a while ago and how they'd become a minor election issue. I assumed this was just something people talked about at election time, but it seems they're a thing in the overseas territories.

According to Belgian media Guadaloupe: Le Pen 69.6% Martinique: Le Pen 60.87% Guyane: Le Pen 60.7% In Saint Pierre at Miquelon it was close (50.7% to 49.3%). Saint Martin and Saint Barthélémy are reported as 55-60% for Le Pen. 55%. The rest are correct, with Le Pen ahead off Canada. Macron's popularity in the colonies is absolutely staggering.

Fairly clear and unambiguous victory. But the législatives are going to be fun.

Yep. Le choix de Hobson, at least for anyone with even vaguely Libertarian inclinations.
I thought Obama vs Romney was an uninspiring contest, but this is even worse.

Click the link in your quote and it does. For some reason the one in Sharon's post doesn't although it appears the same but seems to add some other characters when you click on it

Fairly clear and unambiguous victory. But the législatives are going to be fun. any predictions? Predictions can only be made once you know who is candidate. Apparently in one week tops there will be an announcement of Insoumis-Communist-Green coalition for the législatives with only one candidate in each constituency. Greens and communists want PS to be inclused (so does PS surprisingly) but insoumis are a bit bitchy about it. A united left would be quite new, at least since 1997.

Thoughts and prayers for the following at this most difficult time:
The New York Times; The Spectator; The Dailies - Telegraph, Express and Mail and the BBC.
