Unless CNN are playing me for their ratings this currently seems much closer than I was expecting. It's CNN there after ratings Surprisingly 3 people still like this post.

The really frightening question for me is: who will fill the Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld roles in a Trump Presidency? Pence, at least, seems sane. Why not bring them all back? Ed Meese has a senior role in the transition for fuds sake. But I wouldn't worry that much - the modern Neocons seeking routes to the big war with Russia, so far as I am aware, supported Hillary.

The NYT "map to the right" graphics look like a Weather Channel storm report, with their own "great lakes" effect.

I'm confused. I thought Trump said the vote was rigged and he wouldn't accept it. Have I missed something? It wasn't and he has.

Has anyone got an idea what will happen with the Federal Budget? The tax cuts promised and the increases in in military and border security will mean a massive deficit even if there are massive cuts in non protected areas. I wouldn't assume that any of Trump's campaign proposals are non-negotiable or that he can he get anything he wants through congress. The GOP will likely have a 52-48 majority in the Senate which is enough to pass a budget but there are plenty of genuine fiscal conservatives there for whom deficit reduction is a very high priority.

Pence, at least, seems sane. Only next to Trump. He's still Mike 'government-funded conversion therapy' Pence, and the only governor who's ever managed to cause an HIV outbreak in his own state.

Pence is a dangerous unhinged man whose threat to LGBT+ communities across the USA fills me with absolute dread.

How much of an effect did the Green vole have on preventing Clinton winning the Electoral College?

How much of an effect did the Green vole have on preventing Clinton winning the Electoral College? Not that much. An argument can be made at least that Nader cost Gore the White House in 2000, not really the case this time.

An argument can be made at least that Nader cost Gore the White House in 2000, not really the case this time. It is notable that the worse the two main party candidates are (and in this case they couldn't have been that much worse), the more people will vote for one of them, as a vote against the other candidate, rather than vote for a minor party candidate. The perceived threat of having a very bad president, counter-intuitively, reinforces the two party system.

How much of an effect did the Green vole have on preventing Clinton winning the Electoral College? Without Stein on the ballot Clinton would have probably won Michigan as the gap between Trump and Clinton was 12,000 while Stein got 50,000. What really did for Clinton in Michigan was under polling Obama's numbers in Wayne County (Detroit) by 80,000.

I think the leftist voters that disliked Clinton and/or her policies enough to remain with Stein despite her craziness (and the treat of Trump) would almost all have stayed home if she wasn't on the ballot, or chosen other protest candidates.

Perhaps, although I don't think it that unreasonable that a quarter of Stein voters might have voted for Clinton had Stein not been on the ballot.
