There are probably 363 by-elections / "double" elections on 06 May; 46 of these are in 22 of the 32 London Boroughs. Conservatives defend 9 seats, Labour 35, Liberal Democrats 1 and Greens 1.
36 of the vacancies arose following the resignation of the former Councillor, including 5 after being elected as an MP, whilst 9 died and 1 was disqualified
Majority is the top winning candidate share less corresponding share of runner up party as calculated by Andrew Teale's LEAP
Conservatives defend 1 seat with a 2018 majority of less than 5% and 4 seats where the majority was between 10% and 15%.
Labour defend 3 seats where the 2018 majority was less than 5%, 1 seat between 5% and 10% and 1 seat where it was between 15% and 20%
The Green 1.5% majority in 2018 over Conservative was not realistic with a Liberal Democrat 15½% majority over Conservative more representative
Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrats each have candidates in all 46 by-elections whilst the Greens have 43. There are 13 Independent candidates contesting 11 wards, 1 classed as a "localist" together with 49 Other candidates including 13 OMRLP in Chessington South - a total of 244 candidates or an average of 5.3 per seat including Chessington South or 5.0 excluding it.
