Newark and Sherwood council have published a notice of election for the Bridge ward by-election on 1st July. Confusingly the NoE says that one seat is up for election when there are two vacancies in the ward.

There is a Notice of Election for Bridge ward of Newark and Sherwood for 1 July - it says the election is for one councillor only, but I suspect that may be an error You are likely correct as the page both are on page the paperwork is on mentions 2 vacancies and the elections being on 1st July. By elections 1st July.

Inverness West, Highland Council - Graham Ross (Independent) has resigned for family reasons. No word yet on when the by-election will be but I'm excited as it's my home ward. In 2017 the top three was as follows: LD 28%, Ross 21%, SNP 21%. But those figures aren't too informative as both the LD and Ross had substantial personal votes. I'd probably start the SNP off as a very slight favourite, though of course a strong local campaign makes all the difference in this part of the world.

I'm sure MacShimidh will correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no Inverness City Council.

Highland Council have put out a news release saying they're considering the timing of a by-election, so I think they must just be slow in taking down his profile. I'm sure MacShimidh will correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no Inverness City Council. That is right, there is a city committee on Highland Council and they also appoint the provost and depute provost of Inverness (which is what Ross was). There really should be an Inverness City Council though - folk in Skye and the far north would be quite happy with that development!
