Can't see this mentioned anywhere above: Worthing, Castle: resignation (7th March) of Steve Wills (Con). Elected 2021, up in 2024, presumably will be on 5th May www.adur-worthing.gov.uk/media/Media,167230,smxx.pdf

Is this not the same scenario as the Weymouth West vacancy from 2017/18? The councillor resigned on 20 Dec 2017, within 6 months of the end of their term; after the reorganisation S.I. was passed, the vacancy became active again and a by-election was held on 3 May 2018. Indeed so, the precedent has been set there. I must admit to finding the Harrogate RO's reasoning rather difficult to follow. The wording of the relevant bit of the Structural Changes Order is (article 14(1)): I wonder if the Harrogate RO's argument is that (a) they can't fill the vacancy at an ordinary election on 5th May because there isn't going to be one; and (b) they can't extend the late councillor's term of office to allow a by-election on the grounds that he wasn't a serving councillor when the order came into force? A new casual vacancy has arisen for Wathvale in Harrogate where an election will be held if two electors request one. Seems like a bureaucratic / legal muddle has been allowed to happen.

The unspecified list above includes the 6 vacancies, which occurred before the 6-month rule kicked in, but for which by-elections were not called. These should now be shown as no by-election.
Harrow (Kenton West) Knowsley (Page Moss) Merthyr Tydfil (Vaynor) North Hertfordshire (Letchworth East) Torfaen (Blaenavon) Welwyn Hatfield (Welwyn East)

Gedling, Gedling. Jennifer Hemingway (Labour, 2023) has ceased to be a councillor. So good, they named it twice!
Actually, Gedling village is quite a pleasant spot, with a picturesque church that is popular for weddings. It's not its fault that it lent its name to a coalmine.

There were two Labour councillors called Jennifer elected in Gedling ward in 2019. Hemingway was known at the time of her election as Jennifer Thomas; she has since changed her surname.

Is there any other ward in the country which just has the name of its authority, and no additional descriptor?

Is there any other ward in the country which just has the name of its authority, and no additional descriptor? There is a Conwy division of Conwy Council, I think that may be the only other one
edit: Forgot about Harringay ward if you don't mind variant spellings

There used to be a Broxbourne ward in Broxbourne, and a Rochford ward in Rochford; but in both cases not since boundary changes some years ago
