Bowdon, Trafford. Karen Barclay (Con) ceased to be a councillor on 01/01/22. Her seat was up in May, so no byelection.
Eastleigh Central, Eastleigh. Jephthe Doguie (Lib Dem) resigned on 04/01/22.

Derbyshire Dales, Carsington Water ward - Cllr Lewis Rose OBE (Conservative) has sadly died. He had served as a councillor since 1971, firstly on Ashbourne Rural District Council then Derbyshire Dales District Council following local government reorganisation in 1974.

Derbyshire Dales, Carsington Water ward - Cllr Lewis Rose OBE (Conservative) has sadly died. I’m slightly surprised that he was only 74. He was leader of the Conservative group on the council for 45 years. |

Amazing the policeman was able to both name and recognise a councillor. I wonder how many outside of those very active in politics could manage to do that. I think I could only recognise one of our three of my councillors and that's from party meetings. |

The proportion of people who could do so is almost certainly much higher in areas represented by Lib Dems and Greens (where their names and faces are usually posted through doors on a regular year-round basis) than in areas represented by Labour or Conservatives. |

From the defections thread, where it was misplaced: Karen Barclay (Bowdon, Trafford) resigned on 1st Jan. The vacancy comes under the 6-month-rule, so it's a bit of a mystery as to why she didn't just sit it out. |

Cotswold, Campden Vale, will have Conservative and Lib Dem candidates only. Just look at their addresses! Danny Loveridge, LibDem, 31 Arbour Close Tom Stowe, Conservative, 30 Arbour Close. In Sheffield we had two LibDem councillors who lived next door to a Labour councillor. |

A glance at Google Streetview shows that the numbering in Arbour Close, Campden runs continuously, and nos 30 and 31 back on to each other at right angles. There's a nice tall hedge between the two gardens. |
