At least Islington didn't pull out any surprise. We got some interesting results tonight.

Fantastic result. This is a ward UKIP have carried before of course, back in 2004 in the European/GLA elections (I can't remember what levels from the top of my head.) First UKIP coucillor elected in Greater London though

We're getting quite a lot of wrong winner faults tonight between us, but I'm happy to take the ten points for that one

Really didn't see the Gooshays result coming - I thought the list votes last year showed the BNP had too much of a hard core of support there for UKIP to do it. It does tend to suggest that UKIP can expect to be in the mix in a lot of parts of south Essex.

Terrible results for LD's in Islington - looks like they'll be reduced to a very small rump next year - maybe a couple in Highbury East (Stacey being the weakest candidate) and one or two more praying for a personal vote elsewhere.
By contrast concerning results for Labour in Herts & Havering - we live in interesting times.

Its not the BNP collapse that did for us in Gooshays, as much as the mindblowingly terrible result for the Tories - who have had a dreadful night again..... But yes, a mixed bag for us. There is no other way to describe the Hemel result than awful - WTF is wrong with us there??

All the parties - even the BNP - seemed to be giving the Tories a good kicking over parking charges at a shopping centre. It does seem to be the sort of thing that can produce outsize swings against local majority parties.

You got barelya quarter of the vote so I'm not sure what configuration of votes for other candidates would have delivered you victory. Remember this is a ward you held even in 1968 and as recently as the 1990s could still command 70% plus of the vote

I can't imagine that they would have counted one election in North Dorset tonight but not the other

I was quietly confident that we could win Gooshays. It is the kind of place that the modern Labour Party has extremely limited appeal.
