If the ward name is unique, or you know a postcode for somewhere in the ward, simply enter the ward name or postcode in (1) and select the type of area as ward in (2) then search.

Does anyone know why the BNP have suddenly appeared in those two wards in Islington? For a party that is collapsing, they seem surprising wards to decide to contend. I wouldn't have thought they would get many votes in either of them.

They contested the St Mary's ward by-election in Islington in November 2011:

Here is some background to the by-election in the Chorleywood Chenies ward of Chorleywood Parish Council in the District of Three Rivers (Hertfordshire).

Chorleywood Parish Council comprises 17 members, elected from five wards as follows – Chorleywood Cedars (2), Chorleywood Chenies (3), Chorleywood East (6), Chorleywood Quickwood (1) and Chorleywood West (5).

The Chorleywood Chenies and Chorleywood West parish wards are combined to form the district ward of Chorleywood West.

The council strengths were as follows:

Elections on 3 May 2006: Con 9, Lib Dem 7, Independent 1

Elections on 27 May 2010: Lib Dem 9, Con 7, Independent 1

The current chairman and vice-chairman of the parish council are Lib Dem.

I think they have a tendency to pop up occasionally in wards where they possibly have activists or a nucleus of potential support, such as older WWC residents in social housing, even if the general demographics are unfavourable. There are a quite a few such estates in Camden and Islington.

They do sometimes pop up in the strangest places. In Coventry in 2012 they stood in 11 out of the 18 wards, including Foleshill, which is the only ward that's not majority white. I've never been able to work out why.
