Iβll try to create a map according to his definition but with my personal views of the counties and itβs residents (Spoiler: South Texas is going to be in the populist category).

Casar's TX-35 primary win in Travis Co. reminds me of this map. Casar is a Democratic Socialists of America member. Travis is democratic socialist on the map. South Texas' counties are mostly labelled social-democratic. I wonder if they are like that and if that means Cuellar wins May's TX-28 runoff? Socialists are running in the 12th districts of New York and Pennsylvania too, in Manhattan and Pittsburgh, both in counties that are social democratic on that map. Here is an other try:

Here is an other try: Really like the map concept (although Iβll argue that is is not ideologically based), I would add the Teton county in Wyoming is not βfar north Ruralβ, it is extremely wealthy and would fit better with places like Vail CO. I would also add that Miami-Dade is better classified as Hispanic rather then Mega Urban.

The penultimate hurrah of the Solid South (before 1976) I see that IL had a gerrymandered snake even in 1960!

1988 Pres vote by House seat, Republicans last win Cali, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, New England and New Jersey. Dems last win West Virginia's EVs in an election they lose. Bush mostly dominates (look at the suburbs). Iowa farmers and West Virginia coal miners vote Democrat in droves.

The rot well and truly setting in.

Lots of split ticket voting though as Bill Green still won re-election comfortably as a Republican in 1988

Nowadays, you have a democratic socialist, Rana Abdelhamid, vying to oust House Oversight Committee Chair, Carolyn Maloney.

The Dems are so screwed in that seat if Cisneros wins the primary.

If we are talking about the rot starting to set in, Bush winning a district with Paterson in it by 9% (NJ-8) showed Passaic county before the rot began to take control. Although LA county and PA-3 take the cake.
