That's an interesting variant on the one circulating earlier, which showed all of the Americas, not just the "Latin" bits, and did not include a centrist category- everywhere either left or right. The short list of Latin countries considered centrist is interesting. And Emma (bless her) is right- it's a beautiful map. It looks almost like a reverse map of the usual- everywhere's run by the left except Uruguay!

Why isn't France yellow or blue on this Map ? Perhaps because it would make the map look less beautiful in the eyes of it's tweeter?

Actually I think because France isn't considered part of Latin America. It also hasn't coloured in the West Indian islands, Guyana, Surinam or even Haiti, as they aren't seen as part of Latin America.

Why would the Dominican republic be considered part of Latin America if Haiti isn't? A point of disagreement with some classing it as Latin American and others not. I think it comes down to the DR being Spanish speaking whereas Haiti speaks French Creole. I think it would be hard to classify Haitian government other than under "ungovernable chaos"

Haiti is , as you say, in a class of its own.

The scam that is the Latin Grammy considers Spanish and Portuguese to be Latin, but not Italian.
Leading to the bizarre situation whereby Spanish covers of Italian songs, by the same artist, are considered valid for entry. But the Italian original is considered not Latin.

Maybe they are just worried that the Italians would win too often.

I think Lula is going to win by less than 2%. 98% counted and we're at a 1.8% lead, so a lucky escape for you. Number of blank or void ballots is almost three times Lula's lead. Yes, I know, compulsory voting will do that but it does feel seriously underwhelming.

Can we add Canada as a Latin American country too then?

The second, Lugo (2008-12) was an ex priest , deposed in what you could call a consitutional coup and replaced by someone called.... Franco

So, in America we have right "Evangelicals", who try to convert the world to their pseudoChristianity; and left "Catholics", who try to convert their pseudoChristianity to the world. And hopefully a few remaining real Christians, who don't want to have anything to do with the world and its prince.
